Most residential customers are billed on the DE Domestic Service rate tiers, which are based on how much energy you use in the month. The DE rate has two tiers in the winter and three in the summer, with the price per kilowatt-hour (kWh) increasing with each tier. These prices change seasonally from winter to summer.
You begin each billing period in the first, lowest-priced tier. If your monthly usage exceeds the first tier, the per kWh rate increases to the next tier(s).
As part of TID’s three-year rate update, approved in 2024, residential electric rates will increase 5.6% and commercial rates will increase 4.2%, effective January 1, 2026. The rate update was in response to the increased costs necessary to provide reliable essential services, support the increase of load in our service territory, and to meet the additional expense of state mandates.

All electric customers are subject to our Conditions & Surcharges which can be found by clicking here.
