TID is offering an opportunity for recent high school graduates and those interested in starting a career in construction to receive hands-on training with TID Construction & Maintenance staff. Candidates will learn transferable skills through both classroom and hands-on trainings.
The 2026 program runs every Wednesday, from 5-9pm, June 3 to July 8, 2026.
Application period open April 15-May 15, 2026.
Eligibility:
- 18 years or older
- Driver’s license – Class C
- HS Diploma or GED
- Ability to work in US
- Drug free
The ideal candidate from this program is:

- Committed to attending all sessions

Topics Covered throughout the Program
Construction Equipment
- Equipment safety, Class A overview, tie down equipment and loads, dirt compaction, equipment operations and maintenance
Water Distribution Department
- Introduction to grower tools, maintaining the water from the canal to growers’ fields
Line Department
- Introduction to trade tools, maintaining power line from transmission to distribution
Hydroelectric Department
- Introduction to micro precision tools, measurement fundamentals, tool usage and calibration, quality control, material effects, and safe handling for accuracy and consistency
Combustion Turbine
- Introduction to power plant work schedules and computerized maintenance management systems. Borescope inspections, water chemistry analyses, and pump and motor alignment procedures
Facilities
- Plumbing and basic electrical repair
Mechanics
- Shop safety, oil changes, brakes and bit inspection
Pipeline
- Confined space training, pipeline troubleshooting and repair, irrigation gate maintenance and repair
Welding & Fabrication
- Tool safety, welding basics and introduction to fabrication
Substation Department
- Introduction to maintaining substations as a Substation Technician, including motor controls, conduit bending, and wiring practices commonly used in substation maintenance and construction
