Don Pedro Dam and Reservoir was completed in 1971. It has a total storage capacity of 2,030,000 acre-feet which is seven times larger than the original Dam built in 1923 and provides a place to bank water to accomodate farmers' irrigation needs during multiple years of dry conditions.
